It includes the series A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces produced between 1833 and 1834, to which belong two woodcuts, The Waterfall where Yoshitsune washed his horse at Yoshino in Yamato province and The Waterfall at Ono on the Kisokaidō Road, and which Jaeger-LeCoultre's Metiers RaresTM workshop has taken up to decorate the backs of two Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai watches. No less than 181 diamonds are poised ever-so delicately on the watch bezel and its openworked dial. The Type 390 has been designed so that pretty much any of the available customization options will yield roughly the same price, which hovers right around $300,000 – less than the cost over base of upgrading from a Chiron to a Chiron Sport, so seen from a certain link highly specific demographic, it's kind of a no-brainer. Find out more about the Chiron Sport right here; for more specs, check out our Intro post; and for more info on Parmigiani Fleurier and the Type 390, visit Parmigiani .Although they are very different watches in terms of horological sophistication, what they do have in common is the frying-pan vibe. Both have for-their-time oversized cases, and both have slab-sided case flanks and large, sharply angled bezels – the two together would make a lovely, two-watch collection, if your finances can withstand getting out of the frying pan and into the fire.– Jack Forster

These functions are powered by a manual-winding movement, the ETA Peseux 7001 caliber, link which vibrates at 3 Hz and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. This motor, equipped with a Louis Erard RE9 complication, is housed in a polished steel or black PVD-treated case depending on the version chosen. The system is based on a cantilever spring — here, in Petronas green — that cushions the movement inside the 44 X 12.Sometimes a bezel's action can cheapen your perception of a certain watch. The Mirage 38's gold case shape follows from the asymmetrical movement. It measures 34 x 38mm (42mm lug-to-lug) and 7mm thick. It wears like a round 38mm watch, but stretches and pinches in ways that feel more ergonomic than a familiar round shape. The organic curves seem to match the natural contours of the wrist, wrist bone and all. This is also thanks to the thin case measuring just 7mm, with short, gently curving lugs.

A 14 mm-diameter balance wheel beating at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations link per hour, unveiled for the first time on the Legacy Machine n°1, also breathes life into the dial. The aesthetic appears more refined with female end links and a dramatic taper from 20mm to 15mm at the clasp. It has been a long ride, and a fun one, with the exception of the long delivery time of the watch.Arguably the HODINKEE-base's favorite current production Speedmaster if the FOIS, or First Omega In Space. It is remarkbly true to its roots, and our European Editor Arthur counts it as his daily wearer. He was nice enough to fly over and hop on camera to give us a great, in-depth video review of it.
